About Me

My name is Jason Kirkland, and I am pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Business at Cornell University. I am also an NCAA Division I football student-athlete. My primary interests are manufacturing, operations, mechanical design, automotive systems, and aerospace.
During my engineering internship at Eaton, I developed a Power BI manufacturing analytics dashboard that automated the tracking of more than 91,000 non-stock part orders representing over $42 million in sales exposure. The dashboard helped teams identify material shortages, supplier delays, and production-scheduling risks, and its data supported the approval of additional hiring headcount. I also standardized an informal onboarding process into a repeatable four-week training progression.
My engineering projects have given me hands-on experience with CAD, finite element analysis, prototyping, testing, and dynamic-system modeling. My work includes optimizing an aluminum e-bike frame in ANSYS, validating a strain-gauged torque-wrench design, and developing a numerical model and control strategy for an RC car. I enjoy projects that connect technical analysis with practical design and operational decisions.
Balancing Cornell Engineering with more than 20 hours per week of Division I athletics has strengthened my discipline, leadership, accountability, and ability to perform under pressure. My experience in Boy Scouts, where I earned the rank of Life Scout and held several leadership positions, also developed my commitment to teamwork and service.
I am currently seeking mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and operations opportunities beginning in 2027, particularly within the automotive and aerospace industries. I hope to contribute to teams developing reliable products, improving manufacturing processes, and solving complex engineering problems.
